A native Austrian, Matthias studied hospitality management in the famous Wachau wine region close to Vienna, and then worked in Europe, Australia and Asia for 15 years in the luxury hospitality sector for major international hotel groups. In 2009 Matthias participated in the Clipper Round the World Yacht race, sailing from Australia to San Francisco via Singapore and Qingdao in China, crossing some of the worlds’ largest and most challenging oceans. He continued being passionate about sailing and obtained professional qualifications from the British Royal Yachting Association (RYA). As captain of the Samadhi Ocean Resort (later “Sama”), a 60-foot luxury catamaran that operated in Italy and Greece as a high end combination of hotel and charter yacht, he was able to combine his two passions of sailing and hospitality. Since 2021 he is responsible for yacht sales at the worlds’ largest charter company, Dream Yacht, for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, working from Dream Yachts’ offices in Alimos and Zea Marina in Piraeus. He is passionate about Greece and keen to promote the country and the people whilst travelling abroad. Matthias holds a master degree in hospitality management, a postgraduate MBA and a RYA Yacht master Offshore.
